If you want to change the look of your iPhone’s home screen, there are several ways to go about it. You can find icons or images you want to use, or you can buy an icon set that has the look you want. We’ll cover some of the options below, as well as the entire process of using the Shortcuts app to create your new custom app icons. ..

How to customize iPhone app icons

If you’re new to the Mac, it’s a good idea to find an icon for your new shortcut. There are several sources of icons online (Flaticon, for example), or if you are creative and/or ambitious, you can create your own. If you use someone else’s image or your own, save the image to Photos.

The Shortcuts app is a pre-installed app on your home screen. If you can’t find it right away, swipe left until you reach the App Library and start typing “Shortcuts” in the top search bar.

To create a new shortcut, first open the app and tap the plus sign in the top right corner. Enter the name of your new shortcut at the top and tap “Add Action.” ..

There are many interesting things to try in Shortcuts, but now, what we want to do is change the app icons. Type “Open App” in the search bar and tap the “Open App” link.

To customize your phone’s settings, tap on the “App” icon that appears next to the word “Open.” You’ll see a list of your apps, and you can choose which ones you want to customize. ..

Now, tap on the blue symbol in the upper right corner. You will be taken back to your shortcut page.

Add to Home Screen

You will now see a preview of the icon that Shortcuts automatically adds. Don’t worry – we’ll make it better.

If you have not already saved a photo to Photo, you can tap “Choose Photo” and select the photo you want to use.

If you choose an existing photo, a highlighted area will indicate which part of the photo will appear as an icon; you can move the photo until you are satisfied with the indicated section. Tap “Choose” in the lower right corner.

Your new shortcut will now have a name.

You should see your new custom icon in your home screen. Congratulations!

If you see two new icons on your home screen, one with the first boring icon and one with its new wonderful icon, just press and hold the icon you don’t want and select “Delete bookmark.” Remember, this one (and the other one you created) is a bookmark/shortcut – not the original.

To hide the original app icon:

  1. Open the Settings app and tap on the General tab.
  2. Scroll down to the bottom and select “Appearance & Personalization”.
  3. Under “Appearance”, select “Appearance & Icon”.
  4. Tap on the “New Icon” button and enter a name for your new icon (for example, MyNewApp).
  5. Tap on the “Save Changes” button and confirm your changes.

Long press the original app icon and select “Edit Home Screen.” ..
