How to Fix ‘Face ID Not Working’ Issue – Guide

Since joining the iPhone lineup years ago, Face ID has become a prominent part of its feature list. Users can use it to unlock their phones, check your bank balance, and of course, take amazing selfies for the world to see. However, there comes a time when the Face ID error does not work. That doesn’t mean your phone is not broken at all. You can still use your password to unlock stuff, and maybe the other camera On your phone will work in the meantime. But at some point you want things to “return to normal” and you want nothing more than Face ID working again.

If you don’t see this option, Face ID is not installed on your iPhone. It’s true that only the latest iPhone devices – iPhone XS and iPad Pro onwards – use Face ID. If you have an older device, you will likely need to use the passcode. Anyway, back to your current device. If you see Set up Face ID in blue text, you found the problem: you never set up Face ID or someone deleted your face (rude!). To fix the problem, just click Set up Face identification.
