How to Enable Swipe Controls for Brightness and Volume in YouTube – Guide

YouTube Vanced is a modified version of YouTube that gives you access to a host of new features, from custom themes to full resolution control. Another advantage of Vanced is that you can swipe up and down the left half of any video to change the brightness or the right half to change the volume.

Swiping down to minimize a video helps on iOS devices, but on Android you already have a turn button to do this, which is also easier to achieve. It would make more sense if you could control volume and brightness with swipe gestures.

Enable YouTube Gesture Controls for Brightness and Volume

After installing and running YouTube Vanced, launch the app and tap the profile icon at the top right. From here, go to Settings and select Advanced Settings at the bottom. Under Advanced Settings on the next page, select and enable Swipe Controls. You can control swipe sensitivity with the other two options here. Swiping Threshold controls how far you have to swipe up or down before the gesture is recognized by the app. ..

Swipe Predding on an Android device lets you add a gesture-free area at a certain height from the top of the screen. This ensures that YouTube Vanced gestures don’t interfere with the notification gesture, which also works with a swipe down from the top of the screen. After enabling YouTube gesture controls for video brightness and volume on an Android device, you can swipe up or down the left half of a video to increase or decrease the volume. Doing the same on the right half of a video will increase or decrease the brightness.

Change volume and brightness on YouTube just by swiping

Touch Controls for Youtube lets you control YouTube videos with your hands.

After installing the app, open it to do some initial setup. ..

The app’s accessibility settings will be available.

To activate the Touch Controls for YouTube entry, just select it from the list on the right and press “OK” on the pop-up. ..

Now, on the Settings screen, you’ll see a new tab called “Touch Controls.” This is where you can set up how your phone interacts with YouTube. You can choose to have your phone automatically play videos when it’s in portrait mode or landscape mode, or to have it play them only if you touch the screen. You can also choose to have your phone pause and resume videos automatically, or to have them play continuously. And finally, you can set up how long each video lasts before it’s automatically deleted.

You can’t do much here as it’s the free version, but you can adjust the swipe sensitivity or use the percentage no. instead of regular increments. And if you like this app enough, definitely buy the pro version for $1.50 which allows for some additional features like auto brightness, tap to play and 360 degree video detection etc.
