How to Turn on Startup Sound on Chromebook – Guide

Activate Start-up Tap on Settings

Startup chime using extension

Chrome Web Store: Startup Sound for Chromebooks: To add the Startup Sound for Chromebooks extension to Chrome, open the Chrome Web Store and search for “Startup Sound for Chromebooks” and select the BrowserNative extension. Alternatively, you can also click on this link.

Once Ubuntu is installed, you will be redirected to a thanking window. The start-up sound will default to Ubuntu Start-up sound. But you can change this by going to the boot sound extension settings. To open the extension settings, click the extension icon in the upper right corner.

Now, click on the three-dot menu next to the startup sound extension. Now select “options” from the appeared menu.

You can now choose the startup ringtone from 6 different sounds like Ubuntu, WindowsXP, Windows 3.1, macOS, Windows 98, Windows Me. If you are a Windows or Mac user before, you can select these options for nostalgia. Anyway you can listen to the sounds here by clicking play button after selecting the sound.

Once you have been selected to be a part of the beta testing program, you will need to click on the save button and then restart your device. The only caveat is that you may hear the buzzer sound when you log into the system, not the lock screen. Anyway, the sound seems natural and not out of place.
