How To Check Google Services Status – Guide

Google services stopped working on Monday for users around the world. The search giant has already explained on its blog the reason for the massive outage, which has jeopardized some of the most important services offered by Google. Google explained that its automated storage quota management system was the main cause of the global outage. “Google uses an evolving set of automation tools to manage quotas for various resources allocated to services,” said Google spokesperson. “As part of an ongoing migration of the User ID service to a new quota system, a change was made in October to register the User ID service in the new quota system, but parts of the previous quota system were kept, incorrectly reporting the Use User ID Service to 0.” ..

An existing grace period to enforce quota restrictions delayed the impact, which eventually expired and caused automated quota systems to reduce the allowable quota for the User ID service, leading to this incident. Security checks are already in place to prevent a lot of unintentional quota changes, but at the moment they don’t cover the zero reported loads scenario for a single service.

How to confirm that google services are working

Visit the “Google Workspace Status Dashboard”

The Google Workspace Status Dashboard is a tool that monitors the status of individual Google services. This dashboard allows general users and businesses to view the status of individual services such as Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Docs, Google Sites and Google Video. By viewing the status of these services, users can determine if there is a problem on Google’s side.

Google Workspace Professional, Standard Edition, Partner, and Education Edition admins can also view their Admin Control Panel status here.
